Unique Painted Accent Wall Ideas For Every Space

When it comes to your home, everything has to be perfect. A place you spend time in does affect the quality of your life. Do you know that colors are relevant when it comes to setting moods? The right colors can affect how happy you’ll be in your home, so it’s high time you paid more attention to it.

Being safe with colors and using mainly neutrals does not mean your space has to be boring or dull. You can make it beautiful with a pop of bright colors in the right places. How? With your leftover paint from your last DIY project or the almost empty can of paint you saw in your friend’s house, you’ll have your solution. Just because it’s little doesn’t mean you have to toss it out.

It’s time to get your creative juices flowing so you can paint yourself an accent wall. If you’re unsure of what to do, we have some ideas to get you started.

Paint Stripes on the Wall

If you’re not ready to make big changes for fear of feeling overwhelmed by bright colors, this is a great choice for you. The effect of this design is minimal but it’s enough to switch things up.

To create a stripe accent wall, you need half a can of paint, quality painter’s tape, and a paintbrush. The paint can be in any color of your choice, preferably a darker version of the original color on your wall or a complementary color.

The painter’s tape, also called masking tape is used to mask off areas that should not be painted. It is required that you’re careful while applying the tape so you do not get wobbly stripes.

This design is pretty easy and straightforward to do. It will only take a few hours, depending on the size of your wall.

Create a Patterned Wall

The wall you see first when you enter a room is usually the wall chosen for an accent. It would be nice to create some patterns on that wall to keep things interesting.

All you need is paint and whatever object that has a pattern similar to the one you want to create on your wall. It can be a cup, plate, brush, bottle cover, or anything else you can think of.

For this design, you’re the one in charge. You get to determine the pattern and how much space you want between each shape and line.

Stencil a Wall

Stenciling on a wall is a cheerful way to add drama to your space. It can fast turn a boring space into a fabulous one. It’s not only a good option for your living room wall but can be great when done in your hallway. It’s easy to pull off – you don’t have to be an artist since it’s not freehand.

Choosing the right stencil is a big deal. If you have a large wall area to work on, it’s a good idea to get a large stencil so you can be done quickly. You may have to repaint your wall first if it has started flaking off.

It’s not advised to paint on heavily textured walls as the stencil will not stay in place. Note that stenciled walls look better when there is contrast between the colors.

Create a Geometric Design

Geometric designs are fun and easy to create. They create dimensions to space and can help make a bold statement. They are also a great way to introduce color blocking to your home.

Instead of having plain walls on all sides, you can pick a side to create your geometric design. You will need painter’s tape to mask the sides you don’t want to be painted. The tape is safe for your wall and with them; the shapes can be as large or as small as you want.

Create Patterns Using a Sponge

Who knew you could use sponges for more than cleaning? Yes, for this design, you can use a regular kitchen sponge. This hand-painted wall design depends on how you cut your sponge. It can have a slim rectangular shape, a wide rectangular shape, or a herringbone shape.

You simply dip your sponge into the paint and stamp it directly on the wall to leave a pattern. Depending on the kind of pattern you’re creating, you might need a level to ensure your lines are not lopsided.

Paint the Trim

If you’re a bit skeptical about adding an entire wall of bright colors to your living space, you can do it in bits. Trim serves decorative purposes already so you might as well add a pop of color to them. When deciding the color for the trim, you should go with a contrasting color. It’s an easy change for you, yet, it will make your space more appealing.

Paint Entire Wall

If you don’t mind going all the way, you can paint one wall completely in another solid color. Since this wall will attract a lot of attention, you want to be careful about the color you choose. Make sure to consider the other colors you have currently in your space and ensure the color for your accent wall blends well.

Your home needs refurbishing but calling an interior designer can take you a few bucks back so you can as well try to do something on your own. These unique painted accent walls are easy to do, require only a few materials, and allow you to add your style. The great thing about these ideas is how temporary they can be. The worst thing that could happen is that you won’t like the way it turns out but since you didn’t tear down walls to get the results, you can just cover up with more paint. We are sure you’ll love one of these on your wall but you’ll never know until you try.
