The Warm Glow of Copper Decor

With mixed metals and mixed materials being two of the biggest design trends of 2016, it’s no wonder that copper is having a moment in the spotlight! Today we take a look at some amazing copper decor, from furniture and lighting to organizational items and display pieces. With its warm shine that veers into orange and rose territory, copper can be mixed with silver and brass for a distinct look. Then again, it’s strong enough to stand alone. Here are a few of our favorite copper finds… [Copper Standing Bowl below from Fort Standard

Fabulous Furnishings

We begin by highlighting two amazing chairs with copper accents. The Ovis Lounge Chair from Ladies & Gentlemen Studio mixes a leather sling with a copper and whitened maple frame:

Copper can also be found in the frame of the Sayulita White Chair from CB2. The contrast between the white cotton cord seat and the copper powdercoated steel frame is striking. This chair handmade by artisans in Guadalajara, Mexico is a true showpiece!

Metallic Textiles

Copper is finding its way into textiles, especially when it comes to pillows. Art Deco flair is alive and well in the Lilith 16″ Pillow with Down Alternative Insert from CB2. Thanks to copper foil on velvety pink fabric, a geometric design makes a strong statement.

One of our absolute favorites from this past fall, the Escape Pineapples 18″ Pillow with Down-Alternative Insert from CB2 is the work of a collaboration with Brooklyn-based designer Aelfie Oudghiri. Note how the entire room below has a warm copper glow!

Lighting Options

When copper meets modern lighting, the resulting look is truly illuminating! Below we see the Industrial Glass Pendant in Milk from West Elm. Display it alone, or purchase it in multiples to hang in a cluster:

The Slanted Copper Floor Lamp from Anthropologie is a mix of copper, marble and white oak. A pivoting shade makes this piece functional as well as sculptural:

There’s also plenty of tabletop copper lighting to choose from, thanks to pieces such as the Copper Arc Table Lamp from CB2. Sometimes less is more, and this brushed copper lamp boasts a simplicity that can be contrasted with a more ornate bulb for added detail. A mint cloth cord adds a colorful accent:

Small Decor

Let’s shine the spotlight on small copper decor, starting with functional pieces that are as helpful as they are beautiful. The Copper Gleam Bath Collection from Anthropologie is crafted from copper-plated stainless steel:

For Display

Last but not least, we celebrate copper decor that can be displayed on the wall, starting with the Copper Wall Clock from CB2. Two-toned hands add an element of surprise, as does the rose gold glow of the sleek rim:

Geometric and modern, the Wire Kitchen Paper Towel Rack from West Elm is the perfect kitchen accessory, thanks to copper-finished steel. Gone are the days when kitchen design remained firmly in matchy-matchy territory. Now warm-toned metals such as copper and brass are happily paired with stainless steel!
