Chalkboard Madness in the Home Organization

Inherently we are chaotic, unorganized people that -let’s admit it, have trouble chewing bubble gum and parallel parking simultaneously. (Quick- rub your belly in circles with one hand and pat your head up and down with your other. Case in point.) Despite all the intricacies found within our beloved smartphones and host of other technological gadgets we still have moments of ineptness when it comes to planning and sticking to our itineraries. For those of us who are visually inclined we need constant reminders right before our eyes in bold reds to grab and hold our short spanned attention.

The answer to this is time traveling backwards to our schooldays as we sat for hours staring at the back of our teacher as she scribed formulas on a squeaky clean chalkboard. How often were we supposed to fill in our agendas only to forget what our assignment was or what our teacher issued? But sure enough there it was written in flawless cursive on the classroom chalkboard.

Chalkboards with all their dust and fingernail scenarios deserve a place back in our homes and lives. And thanks to buckets of paint and wallpaper sold with a functional chalkboard finish we can do this ourselves!

Adult Office Retreat:

We love those large desk calendars that get buried under a bazillion post it notes as well as subconscious doodles over every square inch of the calendar pad from countless occasions where we tuck the phone between our shoulder and ear in preparation of a long conversations .What if instead of a nightmare like described above we had a calendar that was life size? And that wouldn’t be three months behind?

Squaring off an extensive portion of the wall, or even framing it all in our medium of paint or wallpaper we can now take one step closer to achieving some method amidst the madness. Once dry and in place we can dedicate the top to Sunday through Saturday and as each month goes by rotate numbers one through thirty-one.

Kids Corner:

Another unique way of introducing our homes with chalkboard art is in the kiddo’s room. Raise your hand if you’ve ever written on the walls as a child. One distinct memory sticks in my mind of my marking the living territory with my name in a purple crayon. When our guest arrived, however, I wasn’t so proud of my accomplishment and spent the entire duration of their visit squatted awkwardly in front of my blemish so that I could hide it from prying eyes. I’m sure they had a sneaking suspicion but hey I didn’t have a chalkboard wall.

So help preserve your freshly painted walls and add a little chalkboard charm in the children’s bedroom. Their imagination can run freely as their fingers clutch their multicolored chalk and squiggle lines that are feeble, dust-enshrouded imaginations can’t decipher. The activities that can be done on this chalkboard will keep them entertained right up until high school as they host study hall in their bedroom and find the missing links of geometry.

As the blocks of your wall to ceiling calendar get filled you can finally sit back and take a refreshing breath in observation of knowing that you are completely organized. Whether or not you will adhere to your chalk art in your chaotic life, time will only tell. Time will only tell.
