Breakfast Idea – Tasting Tiny Pieces Of Furniture

For all of the furniture lovers out there (and we are many), there is an exciting new way of enjoying your favorite piece every morning – tasting a chair or a lamp can become part of your breakfast routine.

Yes, you can actually taste your favorite furniture without spilling chocolate syrup or some confectionery sugar on them. We present you with these tiny food-inspired cakes that are part of a project called Sapore dei Mobili (Furniture Tasting) designed by Rui Pereira and Ryosuke Fukusada.

Aimed at presenting a clearer vision on today’s exploding furniture market, the designers created a project that acknowledges there are huge amount of furniture items that are hard to “digest” and the quantity of new products being launched each year. Rui and Ryosuke have boiled down the furniture choices to a basic five pieces, which you are encouraged to adorn.

Created as a fun alternative of enjoying furniture, this furniture pan combines Japanese food influences (small cakes – “baby castella”) with a Portuguese egg-based pastry (“ovos moles”). Creativity can thus be applied to food, making the old “don’t play with your food” saying a thing of the past. After cooking your furniture – which sounds weird – you can adorn each piece with the topping of your choosing, transforming each tasting into an inspiring ode to great furniture designers who make our lives easier and more beautiful.
