Breezy Design: Light and Airy Interiors with Modern Style

There’s something exciting happening in the world of modern design! It’s a light and airy style that combines a range of eclectic statements, from the Boho to the geo. White walls, soft colors and clean lines dominate these interiors, with accents such as sheepskin rugs and faux fur pillows adding a cozy vibe. Yes, a room can be breezy and cozy at the same time! Today we profile four sources for delicious crisp modern design images, including two top blogs and two top retailers!…

Modern Eclectic Style from A Beautiful Mess

A Beautiful Mess is filled with delicious recipes, clever crafts, and amazing interiors (often tracking the DIY progress of the bloggers’ homes). In fact, bloggers Elsie, Emma and Laura have all recently moved, and it’s been a treat getting to see the progress in their new abodes. White walls are a popular feature, peppered with colorful accents and striking materials, such as marble and brass. Below we see Laura’s breakfast nook, complete with a brass pendant light, a DIY table in pink, and a furry rug:

Elsie recently shared her beautifully designed guest room, shown in the next image. Note the white walls and bedding, which create a clean slate. Eye-catching colors are introduced through the rug and the abstract painting. A pink side table creates a soft statement (such a hot color this season)! We’re loving the shaggy pillows:

Here’s another shot of Elsie’s guest room, this time emphasizing the plants. Houseplants are a wonderful way to introduce greenery into modern interiors, and we’re in the middle of a major houseplant revival. The more interesting the container, the better! Check out this DIY version of the brass bowl hanging planters shown below. Plus, you can’t argue that plants improve air quality!

In one more gorgeous shot of Elsie’s home, we see the kitchen, which combines marble floor tile, a subway tile backsplash, and pops of pastel hues on open shelving. Have you noticed how pastels are increasingly being used to make a modern statement rather than a frilly one?

Also note how gold accents such as the brass pendant lamp are easily mixed with silver-toned statements such as the stainless steel stove. A dash of earthiness in the form of wooden cutting boards and woven baskets adds warmth to the space. For progress on the home of A Beautiful Mess blogger Emma, check out this post. Modern Boho Style from Design Love Fest

Bri Emery of Design Love Fest recently bought a home, and readers have been treated to glimpses of the interior. If you caught our post on tips for painting a front door, you know that the end result can make a big impact, and Design Love Fest highlights the process in this post. Here are a couple of living room shots from the post:

Against the white palette, pillows featuring a bright pattern and a furry texture truly stand out:

In another photo of the living room, this time from a Wood Beaded Garland DIY, we see earthy accents in light wood, as well as a display of interesting pieces (some of them geo) on a fireplace mantel. Geometric decor beautifully complements the modern style of the room.

If only we lived in LA! This fall, Bri hosted designlovefestival, which featured some amazing handmade merchandise, from Nicaraguan blankets to unique ceramics. Talk about breezy style! Don’t the hammocks below say it all?! And those plants!

Breezy Boho Flair from Urban Outfitters

Let’s now shift from bloggers to retailers who celebrate breezy modern style, starting with Urban Outfitters. Since geo flair is a big part of the look featured in today’s post, we’ll start with this Modern Triangles Indoor-Outdoor Rug. Not to mention, many of this season’s best-selling rugs are cream with black geo designs.

Speaking of geo designs, the Emilie Diamond Shelf celebrates sleek geometric style and the gleam of copper. Geo wall shelves work well in clean-lined modern interiors:

Wall hangings and tapestries are a big part of this edgy modern aesthetic, and this Magical Thinking Macrame Wall Hanging can double as a curtain. We also spy a shaggy ottoman!

Let’s not forget about Boho touches such as tassels, as well as the ability of soft hues to contribute to the modern vibe. Both elements can be seen in the photo below, which features the Magical Thinking Hudson Oversized Tassel Pillow:

As mentioned at the top of the post, breezy style can also be cozy. Especially when flourishes such as furry textures are involved! Below we see the Plum & Bow Faux Fur Throw Blanket:

Urban Outfitters makes modern Boho style cutting edge and affordable. Plus, the brand’s product photography is filled with interesting design elements, including a plethora of white walls!

Light and Airy Flourishes from West Elm

We end today’s post by featuring a few finds from West Elm, which offers a range of refreshing finds, including the Souk Wool Rug below. In fact, the “black zigzag on a fluffy cream rug” motif is one of the most popular, especially when it comes to the homes of design bloggers. Isn’t it fetching against a backdrop of tropical foliage?!

Texture. Geo style. Rosy tones. The Sonora Shag Wool Kilim Rug has it all. If one rug could capture an entire aesthetic, this would pretty much take the cake:

West Elm offers a range of Mongolian Lamb Pillow Covers, providing a way to add color and texture to your interior in one fell swoop. We continue to spot pink shaggy pillows, which combine one of the year’s hottest colors with a top design trend (a furry texture, of course)!

A testament to the popularity of pendant lighting, West Elm’s Ombre Mirrored Pendant is stunning against a backdrop of white marble in the photo below. Marble and subway tile are two of today’s hottest trends. This room combines both and then uses lighting as a way to add sculptural metallic flair:

Completing today’s post is a collection of Modern Wood Ombre Vases, which combine a whitewashed finish with the warmth of wood. Not to mention, they showcase the power of geo forms!

Are you a fan of breezy modern style? Keep it crisp with a backdrop of white, and add in touches such as textured pillows, pastel decor and metallic tones. It’s eclectic design at its most interesting!
