Dog and Cat Houses: Pet Friendly Solutions for Your Furry Friends

I say dog, you say cat. From there the arguments, reasoning and disrespect escalates until we wonder how we could be friends. It becomes a competition with more aggression than a courtside event. We begin to analyze the psychological aspects that play a role into how a seemingly normal sane individual could choose the pet outside of our preference. Every horrific story, or folklore regarding that specific pet we relay, exaggerating all its negative connotations.

In secret, we agree with some of these attacks on our beloved pets which we consider a part of the family. I mean, be reasonable, don’t you get a little tired of the mess, the grooming, the pet dander and shedding. Well, sometimes a pet needs a little kingdom, a little spot in the house to call all it’s own. Using a few space saving tricks you can turn the indoor dog house into a space saving nook that’s quaint enough it might just persuade your acquaintances to add one more species to their pet list!

The Grounded Dog House

Built under the alcove a traditional stair case, you can take advantage of unused space and turn it into a suite for your loveable but oversized dog! Get custom made doors that match the interior of the room it open up to, place a pet friendly rug at the entrance and this animal rental place is housing any pet would love to live in!

The Bedside Cat Corner

At first glance this is just an ordinary box nightstand. Closer inspection reveals that this is a little cubicle for your purring friend who as your constant companion must be near you at all time. On the side furthest from the bed you’ll find a circle entrance/exit onto a fuzzy rug that makes it possible for you cat to have its own quarters and yet be close enough in the anticipation of their nightly need for some TLC.

The Play (Bath) Room

This small space is where they have bathing accommodations and a toy bin to call their own. Sharing with your offspring just hasn’t worked out well for them. Somehow you are not pleased when they lather your newborns toys with some genuine heartfelt slobber. Go figure! And it has access to if not a gated then a protected outdoor area where they can run after sparrows and keep the mice at bay!

The Mess Free Dining Station

Automatic may be all the rage, but when your pet wants to indulge in a second serving as they see you do so often, well they naturally feel entitled to another heaping as well. This, as you know firsthand, can get messy very fast. There are many improved feeders that literally are spill free and will keep your pet hydrated without the unexpected partial shower.

Pet Proofing:

Even if your dog has reach its pinnacle and mid life crises at age five – thirty five if we are counting in dog years – they still can be a big old baby. Your cat may never have outgrown their yarn unwinding habits. In this case, you will always have a baby in the house. Keep wires out of their way, chemicals out of their reach, valuables out of their eyesight and keep both all surfaces and them clean on a regular basis to prevent bacteria and other germs.

Once you have finished applying these methods to your home it’s time to set up a play date between the cats and dogs of all your friends. Good thing you pet proofed as this could get interesting. Looney tunes and Tom and Jerry may come to life right before your eyes but it’s all in fun. You’ve upgraded your furry friends’ rent-free space and truly made them a part of you zip code!
