Contemporary Apartment With LED Mood Lighting

Renovating an apartment is not only about contemporary furniture and multi-purpose spaces, sometimes you need to pay much more attention to your lighting. Well, that’s what Joel Sanders did with these two one-bedroom apartments in an East Village Coop overlooking the Tompkins Square Park. Meant for living, working and entertainment in equal measures, this modern loft redesign has a built-in couch for lounging and watching media, and a work surface for working and dining. Along with the kitchen island and the bathroom which are clad in black granite, the master bedroom and the living area get the eye with the amazing LED mood lighting that easily changes color whenever you want it.

Modern Duplex Penthouse in San Francisco: Interior Design With a Twist

If you’re sick and tired with the small condos in San Francisco, and you still got some cash on hand, here’s some inspiration from the creative folks at Joel Sanders Architect who recently gave this downtown duplex penthouse a modern facelift. So what exactly makes it so interesting other than its location and the amazing views? Let’s start with the two living zones. A darker inner one where natural materials are predominant (walnut paneling and banquettes upholstered in deep blue mohair), and the bright part of the duplex, with the living/media room and the kitchen/dining area on the first floor, along with the master bedroom suite on the second floor. Definitely a five star.

Shine Birch Lamp Brings a Touch of Modernism

Finding the right lighting solution for a room is (from my point of view) the toughest thing when decorating a room. You need to make sure the light is strong enough for what you’re looking for and the design definitely has to stand out. Somehow trying to address the issue, designer Katherine Semenko has come up with an interesting concept that she calls the Shine Birch lamp. Only 25cm tall, the lamp is made from matte plastic, has a base that can be clasped in one hand and gets the eye with its five luminous elements. That’s why we think that the Shine Birch lamp certainly makes for the perfect lighting solution in any modern environment. No?

Lovely Coral Lamps by Pallucco

coral-lamps-by-pallucco-1

Crafted by Lagranja Design (for Palluco) these enchanting lamps are truly beautiful. They are made from modular injection moulded polycarbonate parts which look like branches of sea corals. These lamps have a thin stick-like holder which gives them a stylish and elegant look. They come in several pretty colors orange, red, cream and black, and seem to be the perfect accessories for a minimalist designed home. But for those looking for a more exotic addition, they also come without the stick holder. An amazing design exercise where simplicity meets complexity, we’re definitely sold on these lovely coral lamps. [via DailyIcon]
