The Ripple Effect Tea Table by Korean designers Seo Jeonghwa and Hanna Chung is a modern vignette summarizing an Asian philosophy.

The simple piece of furniture is a graduation project for IM Masters Design Academy Eindhoven. It features a water layer on top, making ripples when the users move or even touch the cups and objects on it. The pleasant and calming effect also reflects the idea that small changes of individual objects can grow to a vast impact in a bigger context. The design of the table beautifully embodies this abstract belief and the cups and plates seem to be softly afloat the dark surface.

A stair – and – bookcase is not a novelty, but there are many ways to do it. In this case, the dominant part is not the stairs, but the library. It is a bookcase acting as staircase and not the other way around, which makes this model particularly special. When ascending to the upper floor, you actually step on bookshelves, surrounded by them on all sides, with easy access to all the books. This versatile model proudly accommodates a vast collection of volumes and also has a vintage bookstore feel.

Villa F is the mind-blowing futurisric home of an IT Entepreneur, located in Vienna and designed by Najjar & Najjar architects.

The owner, an enthusiast for Mac computer design and Lamborginis, had his house reflect his passions and accommodate the latest trends in home technologies. To name a few, Plasma TV s seemingly grow from furniture, a large aquarium is embedded in the wall and the sound systems and LED lighting are activated through a mouse click.The work area is seamlessly connected with a lounge area and kitchen. The inclined walls with computer generated graphics instead of pictures, the diagonal edges with their sense of speed, the floors of the sleek and shiny corian, a composite of fiberglass and marble powder, give this home a spaceship feel. It is disturbing and exciting, but then again, it probably never was intended to feel homey.

Red Nest: Bed-and-office all in one, small space solution

The Red Nest by French designer Paul Coudamy answers the seemingly impossible challenge of having a 23 square meter accommodate a bedroom, office and bathroom.

The stylish modular solution is a generous sliding bookcase, concealing either the bed and dressing space or the desk and work area. The youthful design of this space-preserving “furniture complex”, with an intense glossy red coat of paint and a sense of speed is the piece you have dreamed of as a deprived student.
The illusion of space is further achieved with tricks such as the use of mirrors, notably a 2 way mirror in the resonated concrete bathroom, concealing the tub and setting the degree of intimacy. Meanwhile, the fake vintage wardrobe door hiding the restroom is a poetic accent.
Now who wouldn’t want to be a student for life with such an ingenious designer piece ?

The Nixie Tube clock is a wonderful item for those artists at heart who like vintage electronics – a decoration piece with a purpose, beautifully engineered, appropriate for the mantelpiece or the nightstand.

Both retro and industrial, the mesmerizing Nixie tube clock displays its electronic components and the time in a warm orange or blue glow and for those in the know, a graceful lesson of how heat tuns into mechanical work. Mesa, the Zaha Hadid designer table

Presented at the collectors’ fair in Basel, Switzerland, the Mesa table has Zaha Hadid written all over, even if you didn’ t know it was by her.

The sci-fi piece of furniture of dark silver colour is just like one of the architect’s interiors, an amorphous yet logical, fluid progression.

The organic shaped table, with its sleek surface on a liquid interweaving of tentacles, rests on a triangle shape. The conventional elements of table surface, base and support elements have been abolished and re-interpreted in the deconstructivist style so specific to Hadid. Or maybe just a show-off tacky chewing-gum-shaped table no interior design can comply with ? Haven’t decided yet.

Modern Flag Residence farm house extension by Propeller Z

I fell in love instantly. Flag Residence by Propeller Z architecture is one of the boldest additions to an old construction I have ever seen.

The house in Fahndorf, Austria, consists of a 200 year old farmhouse buried in the natural slope, leaving the imperfect grey shingle roof visible. To one end of the roof, the architects added a stunning contemporary living and kitchen space with wooden boarded ceilings and exposed concrete floors, a long crooked box anything but conservative supported on truss pillars and accessed through an external stair at the joint with the old structure. Confidently casual, comes to mind regarding the unpretentious furniture. While two facades are floor to ceiling glass – nothing short of modern, the third is a complete stainless steel clad facade with one narrow window strip – outrageously industrial, and the fourth is a transverse woodstack – outrageously rustic, in a steel context.

The Centro Abierto de Actividades Ciudananas in Cordoba is a colorful subdivision of our world. From a vast barren space by the railway station, it has been updated by ParedesPino architects to a focus of interest of the city itself.

A garden of slabs and prefabricates, with a deceiving sense of scale, the place is designed to make you smile. The huge parasols shield against weather, providing a fantastic venue for fairs, temporary markets and other activities. Like huge artificial water lilies hovering over the surface of the square, the prefabricated elements of various heights and diameters have artificial lighting incorporated, as well as water drainage. Centro Abierto de Actividades Ciudananas , a pastel colored urban forest during the day, creates a fabulous spectacle at night, a dazzling interplay of shadows and bright reflections, a collage of contemporary impressionism.
