The beautifully bold and elegant Peninsula Residence is, surprisingly, a makeover of an 1980’s home overlooking Lake Austin, Texas.
The stunning reconversion was made by Bercy Chen Studio, to make better use of the natural surroundings and light. It does, through the use of glass and steel, as well as dark wood cut and disposed so as to convey an exotic touch. With an almost surreal geometry, that re-interprets and abstractizes the traditional gable roof structure, the house makes extensive use of wood strip blends that turn the entrance area into a gazebo. The solarium, pool and vegetative roof are further connections with the natural context. The inspiring interiors feature elegant and sensitive detailing and further spatial surprises, such as the amazing minimal study clad in wood, with angular walls and red lighting.
